So now I'm on the fence. Got my new cab mounts, for my new weather stripping, new fenders, rims, and tires.... Which engine do I use? The 4.6 ford v8, rebuild the 240, the 4.3 v6, or the Benz 5cyl diesel. I have all of these at the house, running driving, good engines..... Just when I thought I had a plan.....

I think I've decided to go with the inline 5 turbo diesel. Won't be a heavy hauler, but will get better fuel mileage, allow me to run WVO, and be a good "homeowners" truck.

ordered my transmission off fleaBay today.... can't wait to start mocking everything up in the truck. (fingers crossed, I need some more weekends without rain!) I will certainly start posting more photos once I actually begin the work.

Started working on pulling the front off the truck to replace the fenders and put the new engine in. Found much more rust than planned and had to cut a lot of bolts. :pout:

I suggest ya start spraying all nuts and bolts with PB Blaster (or equivalent) - even the ones your not even thinking of removing. I'll go as far as preventative measure to remove the nut or bolt, hit it quickly with a wire brush, apply some antiseize, and reinstall... for next time. And there usually is a next time.

Definitely need a new radiator support and driver's side inner fender.... The hood might have to do for now, but it's rough!
