Bottoms up. The button project.

Post by Trampus »

Who: Button
What: 67 swb custom cab.
Where: southern Az
When: 3 months
Why: I've had my late brothers truck since he passed away in 98. It was in running shape back then. 5 kids and 2 marriages later I'm finally giving "button" the time he needs. "Button" is what I named the truck because it was my brothers nick name. At 6'4" and 275lbs nobody called him that but our mama.

How: I've given myself a 3 month time line and a 7k budget. Starting at the front bumper and fixing, replacing, polishing everything till I get to the rear bumper.

Cancer is gone. Cut out and fresh steel welded in. Little work in the bed as well. The cab supports were all solid still.

The rims are repainted.
I stripped them down etched, primer, sanded, 3 coats of color, 3 coats of clear. Should last a bit.
I realize once you consider the time effort and cost of repainting these I could have purchased nicer rims but my brother got these rims for his birthday (the day he passed away)

Looks like someone is moving right along with their project  . I have those same rims and thinking about painting them the same color of my truck (blue ) then add beauty rings and center caps. Keep up the good work.

Hey thanks jimmy828, just don't do what I did and use aircraft remover on the rims and make a huge mess of things, then spend an hour per rim picking all the rubberized paint out of the seams.

Based on your story, those wheels have to be on the truck. It just happens they look great too. :woohoo:
