Can Anyone Desktop Dyno this combo for me please?

Post by moore89 »

Ok my friends and I have been going over another combo for a 460 build and we came up with this. It will be a street/strip motor.
460 bored .030 over fordged pistons, stock crank and stock rods (freshened up), 8.5:1 compression ratio, D3Ve heads with gasket matching porting and polishing, comp cams magnum cam kit with 230/230 duration @.050 lift. adv duration 280/280 530/530 lift with 1.73 ratio rocker arms rpm range from 2000-6000. topped off with a GM 6-71 Blower assembly with blue thunder intake manafold pushing 10-12 lbs of boost. And for carbs I'm not really sure but I'm thinking a couple of 950 or 1000 cfm 4bbl holleys.
67 f100 2wd LWB (go fast truck). 460/C6 lots of lope and gobs of torque (under construction again) 13.06 in the 1/4mi (with the old less built motor).
2 Thunderbird Supercoupes (a 1990 35th anny., and a 1991 modded pushing 15 lbs of boost)
1989 Ford Taurus SHO 5spd

How about a couple DOVE heads? You may not need them with the blower?

I was thinking of keeping the D3VE heads because they would keep the compression down. He.He this is like my 100,000th idea for an engine combo for the truck I jusyt cant make my mind up.

I've had Desktop Dyno for some time now but haven't gotten around to loading it up. I went ahead and did that this afternoon and played around with it for a few minutes, filling in a few blanks myself, and here's what I came up with, based on what you specified:

thanks for the replies and thanks FORDification for the desktop dyno sheet. The numbers were low compared to what I was hoping for but what can ya do. Do you think it's the heads or the cam that may be holding the power down? DuckRider the cam part number on summit is CCA-34-331-4 and the grind number is FF 280H-10.

527/609

I'll look it over a bit more tomorrow and post a graph for you.

WAY too small of a cam with WAY too tight a LSA for a big inch blower motor, IMHO

Edit, dang 460's have a crappy cam selection, glad I got an FE!

thanks for checking, I know the cam selections for the 460 suck. there is another I bigger one I was looking at but it bumps the rpm range from 2000-600 to 3000-6800

Do they have one in the XE line?

See if you can find something in the 112-114 LSA range, even if its not any bigger...

I apoligize for the size, my program with "save for web" is on the other puter.

The second one is a crower, you should peruse their selection.

(actually you should put a dual quad 428 in it, but thats just me... )
