Trouble getting shiftier and forks lined back up in trans

Trouble getting shiftier and forks lined back up in trans

Took trans and transfer case out to do a clutch and had to pull shifter assembly now I got assembly back in but cant get it into 4th gear

ON my 1979 ford f150 strait 6 4 speed 4X4

ANY IDEAS OR TRICKS ?????????????????

You need to have everything on the main shaft in neutral as well has the shift forks when you put the cover back on. Not sure what transmission you have but that is the way I had my NP435 when I put it back together.

first time replacing a clutch

How do i tell if the gears are in neutral

Transmission newbie sorry

Sorry for the delay. You should be able to spin the output yoke to confirm it is neutral. The shift assembly is just center stick.
