Coil over conversion

Post by 71-f250-highboy »

Hey everyone, I’m trying to put coils on the front end of my 1971 f250 4wd. It has leafspring in the front right now. Rough country sells the kit for a f100 that comes stock with coils. I’d like to buy this kit and try to rig a solid set up. Just wanting some help if anyone has done this yet. The kit also come with rear leaf springs. The only problem is that the spring that it comes with are 3 inch wide. Mine are smaller. Is there anyone that has put 3 inch ones on? And if so how do you do it. Thanks.

:? The kit that your thinking about buying is for a half ton. those parts are going to be underrated for your truck. If you were going to try to get coil springs in the front I would say look into a newer 3/4 ton front axle that came equipped like that. but. and I have to say but. are you sure this is worth your time and effort? its a 45 year old truck. it is what it is. if you want the newer suspension in a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck just buy one. It is going to take alot of work to re-equip the front suspension and frame for that coil setup that it was never intended to have.

I get where you're saying. I didn't think about the weight rating on these. Thanks for the info.

I had overlooked it was your first posting. Welcome! :fr: . What is the interest in trying to go to front coils?
