Another guage question

Post by TheeMc »

This should be simple for you guys...lol
Don't want to sound stupid, but I need to install a new sending unit for my oil pressure guage, and haven't been able to locate it. I have a 390, the guage works sometimes, but most of the time not, and all the other guages work, so I am fairly convinced it is the sending unit. I havent really worked on one of these in 15 years and can not for the life of me remember where that little critter is.....
Help! lol,

Under the power steering and right behind/on top of the oil filter.

Little mushroom shaped metal colored sending unit. Has a threaded post sticking out the top and should have a 90degree boot on it with a green? wire running into your firewall.

On some engines there is an aluminum extension coming from the block and the sending unit screws into the extension.

Right next to your oil filter and fuel pump.

Thanks! I've got my temp, and fuel guage working now, next is oil pressure, which is like office assistants I've had in the past and works when it feels like it, and lately hasn't been much up to it.....so I figure a new sending unit can't hurt...
