Painting Driveshaft?

Post by colnago »

I picked up a coupling shaft the other day, and I figured I would clean it up a bit before dropping it off to get shortened. That got me wondering if anyone has painted their driveshaft(s), or if you go for a natural, 50-year-old patina. Any consensus?

I never thought about that. My preference would be to leave it as is.

To do it or not has depended on what it goes back onto - if I was doing a restoration then yes paint it but if its just going on a driver or patina truck then I would leave it as is. Good example is I'm in the process of installing new kingpins an poly bushings and all I'm doing is installing the new parts and leaving everything else as is because my bump is staying just as it is now and newly painted parts on a truck like mine stand out......and then people ask when you're gonna finish it....... ........not that I mind them asking but I'd just rather not waste conversation time on that........ :D

My :2cents: on that.......

I'd paint it even if it's just with a spray bomb. I shot mine and it's nice and shiny now.
