What's funny is I looked at a 72 F250 4x4 about two years ago that was claimed to be a factory auto and had a 360 in it. It was suppoed to be all stock, and from the looks of it I believed him. It had an auto column, auto pedals, and what looked to be all the stock running gear. At the time I wasn't real familiar with the stats on the 4x4's, but looking back I wish I would have crawled under to check for a patch on the floor where a stick would have gone through, or at least got the numbers to check for myself. It was pretty rusty so I passed on it and shortly thereafter bought my crew...

John,

I too have a 1972 F100 XLT Ranger 4x4 SWB. I picked her up about a year ago for $800.00. She has a 360 2bbl. No power brakes or steering. Here is the crazy thing though, the truck came factory original with AIR CONDITIONING! Go figure. I guess you needed the AC to cool yourself down after all that workout on the steering wheel!

I am currently rebuilding an extra 360 into a 390 .20 over. My idea is to turn it into a 390 w/4 bbl carb, Holley. I am wanting to go with a retro 4x4 look, but I'll just be happy if I can get the engine to work out fine.

I have thought that these SWB were rare. Great deal on your $200.00 investment.

johnzmu,

The F100 was originally Candy Apple Red. At sme time she was painted blue. I rather like the blue. The interior is a mx of original red with black and other colors from the junk yard. I put th etruck back together mostly with parts form the Pick a part.

I've had my 72 since 99 and have not seen another 1/2 ton 4x4 short box since except on this forum. Plenty of 3/4 ton p/u's though. I believe they must be somewhat rare? At least in NC.

Maybe rare in NC. I can drive down the road and I'll drive past five 1/2ton 4x4 shortboxes in different driveways before I get into town.

How rare are the 1969 shortie F100 4x4, with a 4 speed, 435 trans, Dana 21 axles, Styleside bed, Custom Cab. I recently acquired this truck at the price of $300.00. She is very straight & solid, Runs really good ,drives good. I have never seen one until now. Can anyone out there give me a ballpark figure of what the value of this truck might be. treasure_master77@yahoo.com

Depends on the area you're in and 99999999999 other things really. Post a picture of it.
Around here a shorty 4x4 is roughly $900.

I've got a 1970 f100 4x4 fleet short box Dana 21 and np435. Im using it as a daily driver. Anybody do anything about that granny gear. I would love to move into an overdrive or maybe re gear to make it a little more highway friendly. Thoughts?
