I haven't done the outside of my tank yet, but I was planning on sandblasting it. However, after finding some pinholes in the bottom of it last weekend while flushing and sealing it, I'm kinda leary about trying that now...the metal there is gonna be kinda thin.

When it comes time to do the bottom of the hood, though, I'll be sandblasting it as well. It's about the only way I can think of to adequately get it down to bare metal without using chemicals...something I'd rather not do in areas where some of the chemicals could get trapped and attack the paint later on.

I use soda blasting on lots of things like that and actually like it better than sand. It's easier on the metal and as far as I'm concerned, a much easier clean up afterwards!

I also have rust under the hood and need away to get it all out.. do you just get the soda at the supermarket or bulk elsewhere?

I have it done by a guy that does nothing else. But I do remember he said he uses food grade soda... it takes a bunch!
