Rear bumper or not?

Post by tazzman68 »

Ok, here is the deal, I hate the crappy step bumper on my truck. I am removing it this weekend. What I want an opinion on, is if I should do the Roll Pan treatment, or I found one of the fancy chrome rear bumpers on a camper special in the junk yard. The only towing I will ever do with my truck will be a gooseneck flatbed, so I don't need a rear hitch.

Depends on whether you were going for the 'mild custom' look or the factory look....and how much you drive it. The more miles you put on the truck means you'll be doing some in-town driving, which increases the likelihood that you might get bumped from the rear at some point. I do like the rollpan look, but IMHO the sport bumper not only looks good (especially if you tuck it into the body a little bit more) but offers at least a small amount of sheetmetal protection.

I completely agree.

Put the standard style rear bumper on if you actually intend to use your truck.

Besides, the brackets are like money in the bank. :$$:

I haven't really decided whether I'm gonna drive it alot or not. It currently has collector plates on it, so I shouldn't drive it too much. And as far as custom goes, I am pretty sure she's gonna end up on the wild side :D
