Brazilian Ford F1000 and F4000 [LOTS OF PICS]

Post by FORDification »

Man! I followed a link which took to to another which took me to another....long story short, I've spent the last few hours finding out about a whole 'new' segment of foreign Fords I knew nothing about, and I just thought I'd share it with you all.

Did you know that the bodystyle used on the '67-'72 Fords in the U.S. continued on for several more years in Brazil? They weren't called the F100 there...they have F1000's and F4000's. Many of them look exactly like ours, but they continued making these things up until about 1992! It seems a majority of them are powered by turbo diesel engines. Take a look at this page:

http://lista.mercadolivre.com.br/F1000

Here's a few pics I saved from various places online:

You can find a bunch more of these listed an various Brazilian auto dealers' websites. Unfortunately, I can't read Portuguese so I can't read the specs. I'm definitely going to have to do some more research into these cool trucks!

WOW. I think the F1000 is the coolest thing Ive seen. Thanks.
I say we invade, mandate lower pollution and higher mileage, threaten to crush all the trucks or buy them for scrap for use in making newer cleaner vehicles in the states.

I wonder if Ford of Brazil is still selling parts to support them down there that they don't sell here. Mid 80's isn't that long ago.

Like maybe, the rear bumper brackets for that white truck?!?!?

What turbo diesel is in them, I wonder? Home grown or something else out of the Ford line?

Cool find!

You gotta see the interior of this one sweet.

Em 1985 a concorrência da GM era renovada, exigindo resposta da Ford: chegava o motor a álcool de seis cilindros e 3,6 litros para o F-1000-A, dotado também de pneus radiais

Loosely tanslanted from my high school spanish class, its a 6 cylinder 3.6 liter.

I've put one of those on my next to buy list. :D That is very interesting Keith. I never knew about those trucks. They all look like 67s without the marker lights. The rear mounted fuel tank is interesting, too. And we thought they never made extended cabs of our trucks. I like that F1000 turbo. The parts supply would be good. Here is a 90 model http://www.mercadolivre.com.br/jm/item? ... d=28756568 That is a version of ebay. That is really wild.

Unfortunately, I bet they'd be a huge, and I mean huge, hassle to import. They'd have to meet all US safety and emissions regs for their year of manufacture.

Look at this 1960? http://www.mercadolivre.com.br/jm/item? ... d=28331804 very interesting, :hmm:

Plus, they used Y-blocks into the 80s or maybe later.

These 'extended cab' trucks are being referred to as 'double-cabs' in all the listings I've seen so far. I just think it's neat as heck that they're all one piece...no separate cab. Because the fuel tank has to be at the rear (aft-axle), there's no place for the spare tire, except on a carrier against the tailgate, like our Broncos have.

We're just gonna have to recruit a member or two from Brazil to start shipping parts up here to us!!

Nah, everything seems to be about 10-15 years behind us....but along the same bodystyles, which for them seem to range from the late-'70s up to about '92, I think a lot of their stuff would work for ours.

Who was it that was asking about clear taillight lenses?
