going price for a cab & front clip??

Post by 72hiboy4x4 »

I found a real nice '68 cab and front clip I could use on my truck. little to no rust, just surface rust and a quarter size hole near the battery tray. 1 small crease in the driver's door is the major body damage.
no rust on the core support, on the inner fenders, or the cab mounts or corners.
cab is stripped bare (like keith's) but everything is probably still around and included, except the windshield.
been stored in a garage for 3 years. this is JUST the cab and front clip.
I need a quick idea of what this might be worth! I need a cab bad, but money is definitely an object here! (I have very little  :( )
what should I offer him?? ballpark figures, anyone??

I'd offer $250 and start there. Pick a no. as your upper limit and stop there.

what if $250 IS my upper limit?? :o  I don't want to insult the guy by offering too little, but lack of funds tie me down.
I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what he says...

thanks for the advice, guys. I'll see what he says!

Well, I'd imagine that he's probably not getting a lot of people beating down his door looking for those items, so you might get lucky. When I got my last parts truck I just told the seller "It's not a matter of what I think it's worth, it's what I think I can afford". If he decides to pass on your offer and then finds the parts sitting around not going anywhere, he'd be more likely to listen to your offer again. It sure doesn't hurt to ask.

I would politely tell him you only have $100 to spend and leave your number. If he is trying to get it out of his garage he will be calling you. There isn't anyone else that's going to come get it. People doing cab swaps on these pickups are few and far between.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
