is there a way you can put a bass in our trucks?

Post by 1971 golfer »

ive seen that some people have done it with the gas tank removed but i just wondered if there was another way. I am also wondering if anyone can show me were you have put your little speekers i have some nice little bose speakers that i would like to hook up and hide under the dash but i just dont where exactly to put them or how to hang them under there. Anything will help especially pics and links to different basses that will work if you have them.
Thanks a lot

I have one in my truck, but it's mounted under the hood and most of the sound comes out of two little speakers near the back bumper. I love the beat even though it's always the same song...

Nah. Wish I could help... I still have the stock AM radio in mine and the single speaker in the dash. That thing makes too much racket to listen to the radio anyway, but I like it that way.

Just couldn't resist...

Yeah what I'd do if you really want bass in your truck is just go to the local fish shop and pick up a decent sized bass. Then all you really need to do is slide in under your bench seat. It's going to smell though, so it wouldn't be somethign I'd suggest. But It's your truck i say go for it

I've seen a 14 inch in a real shallow box under the seat , course 14's are hard to catch and they began to smell after while.

That is exactly what I thought. I have no idea what they are talking about.

I don't fish much, but I'd imagine you'd want to keep them on ice, maybe in a cooler in the bed, until you get the bass home and in a skillet.

Actually, I think what Jake is referring to is a Subwoofer. Bass is the group of frequencies that a Subwoofer-type speaker creates. Folks who listen to rap and hip-hop use subwoofers to produce that booming sound that rattles trunk lids, license plates, and side view mirrors. Personally it's not my style. If a 10-year old Buick rattles that badly, how do you think a 40-year old tin can like a Bumpside will do?

In addition to finding a good place to mount a subwoofer, you'd also need to find a place to mount the amplifier. Some place cool, dry and isolated from vibration (a tall order, considering you're mounting it in a 40 year old pickup and trying to induce vibrations to begin with). I don't think there is a good place to put one in a Bump.

You could mount this below the dome light...

Now if you're talkin 'bout audio bass, my suggestion would be to build a center console that houses the speaker.

Got two 8" subs in my doors, two 6" mids where the air vents use to be, and two tweets on the dash. Also a cd changer and a 4ch. amp under my custom center console.

My doors had cut outs for 6x9's in them when I got the truck, so I wasn't to worried about cutting the doors for the subs. Once I get a good welder I will fill the 6x9 holes. When I get around to refinishing the interior I will make new door panels and speaker covers to make the sub install look allot better, but for now they work great.

The only rattle I get it occasionally from the chrome trim around the door panel, I have a few clips missing that holds them on.

The whole system sounds good, the 8" subs have maybe a 1/4" clearance before they hit the outer door skin because the magnets are so deep, but they fit.

On a side note, I absolutely do not listen to any (c)- rap. It is good though to crank up and over power some Hank Jr. next to the rattling car at the stop light, who are bass'n out to rap "music."

It is also good while on the interstate on a long road trip.
