Dashboards...

Post by Iron Man »

How much work is involved in removing the dash from a '67 to '72 Ford pickup? I was thinking of removing my '69 dash and replacing it with a '67. The '69 is spot welded, is the '67 the same? Bad idea? Thanks.

I've never looked at a '67 dash but I'm guessing they are spot welded too. Were you looking to get the '67 only heater switches? If so most people that do it just cut out that section of the dash on the '67 and their truck and patch it in from what I've seen .

The reason I ask was that I heard a rumor that '67 was the last year the dash was bolted in. I have no idea. I have had a couple of '67's but never looked at how the dash was held in. Fordman, any idea's?

its spot welded in. one thing you coul do is to just cut the pieces out of each dash and weld in what you want as far as controls and ashtray. the lower dash is different where the 67 and 68-72 ashtrays fit.
