72 F250 Bucket Seat Options
I want to put bucket seats in my truck and i am wondering what is the best fitting option. I don't want power but i would like high back or at least a headrest.. Are there after market seats that fit? I have read a few posts that say high backs tend to bump up against the back window..

I was going redo a bench seat but decided to go with buckets instead because I want to put a sub box in the center. Got serious this past weekend and when thur two different juckyards and finally found a caddy 60/40 red leather to match my interior. Red seats are had to find in good condition. I'm going to cut the 60 down to match the other seat then fold the leather down so it will match the other seat.
The seats were power but I got two power bases from 98'ihs explorer since they are only a 2 wire hook and the control switches are in the seat side cover. (self contained) Yes it will take some work to fab up but I plan on mounting a plate to regular mount then seat to the plate. If you have any fab skills I would just go to the junkyard find something you really like and fab up a good mounting system. CLS some times has some good deals, good luck with what ever you decide to do.
This is not from an explorer but the control panel on the seat/base is similar. The explorer even has a pump in the base to operate a lumbar seat.

Thanks 70-360fe for the reply.. you are definitely doing something beyond my skills.. i don't have any fab skills to speak of.. i am thinking of putting in 67 - 72 mustang seats.. they won't be adjustable much but should be somewhat comfortable.. those power seats look really sweet .. hope you get some pics up of your caddy seat install soon!

Might be a couple weeks before I get to the seat, I'm going to put new coil springs and front sway bar on this weekend. The weekend after I want to take everything out of the cab clean touch up and maybe some sound deadener. Tryng to get everything together so the job will hopefully be quick and painless.
Mustang seats are nice can be kind of hard to find, good luck with your hunt. The fab. really is not as hard as it sounds.

I'm using these seats from a 66 Mustang, they were std seats, I had them recovered in the Pony Style.

Thanks I stripped my cab the last two weekends.. removed the old carpet glue and I am getting ready to paint the inside with por15 (except the dash) .. I have been looking at the Quiet Ride stuff they have a nice firewall that has sound deadener built in and is molded for our trucks..70-360fe wrote:Might be a couple weeks before I get to the seat, I'm going to put new coil springs and front sway bar on this weekend. Those are cool seats Tpdaniels! I am interested in getting a set with headrests.. did you ever consider a pair of highbacks? or do they not fit well? I have heard they can back up against the back of the cab or be too high so you are almost hitting our head on the roof..Tpdaniels wrote:I'm using these seats from a 66 Mustang, they were std seats, I had them recovered in the Pony Style.
I found these on the web.. they look cool but no brackets with them http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-soft-tri ... 24824.html

Re: 72 F250 Bucket Seat Options
Those are very good looking seats, just have to fabricate some brackets, I went with the Mustang seat to stay with the same style that was in the truck originally, I did switch to the pony foam and cover for the seats, I like that look much better and the frames are the same so it was easy to switch. I was also able to buy a set of reproduction seat brackets that mount them perfect in the truck, I did not want to go with a much larger seat, the cab is not very large to start with and using these seats it make the cab feel a little larger. I also removed my gas tank from the cab and put it between the frame at the back of the truck to gain a little more room.JPC1972 wrote:I found these on the web.. they look cool but no brackets with them http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-soft-tri ... 24824.html

Re: 72 F250 Bucket Seat Options
Its hard to find reasonable prices on 60's mustang seats.. the ones I see on ebay are usually beat to crap and need reupolstered or are already reupolstered and they want big $$$ .. i didn't know the seats in the pics were for chevelles until i looked a little further.. i want to get something that will fit with the mustang seat brackets.. i found a couple of mustang II seats they will eventually need reupolstered but they look decent for now..they are from a 70's mustang II i am wondering if they will mount right in as well as the 60's seats do..
