Original Radio, Upgraded Speakers? Help
I would like to keep my original radio but add two speakers behind the seat.I'm not sure if the original radio can handle the additional speakers or if it will sound good.
If anyone has done this please let me know. Thanks!

I did but also installed a later model AM-FM. The speakers added were just typical coaxial, nothing high powered or fancy. Sounds great compared to what it did before

Mach,
So you replaced the original radio with a modern one? Or you have a original radio and a modern one?

If you find out the addition of the speakers doesn't sound good you could always buy one of these radios and put it in the original spot. That is my plan for the future.

I hope the picture came through. I've never quite figured that out.
I installed a 1972 Ford truck AM-FM, the one with no slider at the bottom. It looks great and sounds even better.

Mach,
Thanks for the picture, the truck looks really clean. When you said you installed a later model am fm radio. Does this just mean that your truck is older then 72?

Yes, this is my 69 F250 purchased new by my Father. I've owned the truck for 37 years and it has 28,000 miles

Re: Original Radio, Upgraded Speakers? Help
I did the same as Mach428 and installed a factory am/fm in my 69. I didn't know if it would put out enuff sound so i installed a equilizer in the glovebox of the factory AC unit. The radio sounded fine when i tested it sitting in the driveway. I like to ride with the windows down thats why i put the equilizer in to help it sound more modern with the old school look.
BTW: Very nice looking truck Mach, White with red interior has always looked good together.
