Reassembly sequence?

Post by sargentrs »

Ok, so next week I'm taking off work with the goal to paint my interior and begin reassembly of the cab. Before I go hog wild and put a bunch of stuff back in only to have to pull it back out again, what order do I need to install the following:

Firewall cover
Carpet
Brake pedal assembly
Steering column and inside firewall bracket
Heater box
A/C (after market under dash to come)
Seat mounting brackets
E-brake pedal assembly
Wiring harness and fuse box
Accelerator pedal assembly

I already plan to lay down sound/insulation mat on the floor first. What all can be installed before the firewall cover (not ready to drop $200 just yet). Any advice/experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1.Firewall Cover
2.Brake Pedal Assembly
3. Steering Column
4.Wiring Harness
5.Heater
6. A/C
7.Seat Brackets
8.E Brake
9. Accel Pedal
10.Carpet

This is the order that I would do it. I've assembled probably 4 or 5 of these trucks in the past 10 years and I'm pretty sure this would be the best way. Numbers 7,8,9 don't have to be in any specific order just as long as the carpet is last.

don't forget to put wire harness back in above heater box(top right corner) before installing box. I had a redo on that part. I had to take box back out to put wire/grommet in.. Another lesson learn was to cut insulation out from around all openings of firewall cover or else you will be on your back like i was cutting the openings out.

Thanks guys! I was hoping the firewall cover would be a little further down the list but I should have known better  Looks like reassembly will be delayed until I can afford one.
