Update 4/19/2015 1972 F100 SWB Weekend Project Part 2

Post by jp2005 »

On to the next project in my life is what I said when I sold my 1968 F250 to a guy in FL. I recently purchase a 1972 F100 shortbed in November. Just alittle history, the truck was purchased new in AZ by a guy that passed away and has grandson received it then sold it to the gentlemen I purchased it from. The thing is they never changed the title over, so I’m considered the second owner. They had plans of restoring it and never got around to doing it, and it set since 1996. Has a clean title and it did run and drive when I purchased it, just couldn’t stop! Has a pretty solid original body and frame, only surface rust. I purchased a second truck to drive to work through the week only I build this one. Things I have done so far are.
1. Installed front disc brakes from drums and all new parts in rear for drums
2. Went through diff and installed new seal and painted
3. New tires
4. Pulled engine and transmission
5. Restored steering componts
6. New rear and front struts
7. Parts purchased for rebuild
a. Edelbrock cam and lifter kit 2106
b. Edelbrock performer intake 2105
c. Edelbrock carb 1406
d. MSD ready to run distributer 8595
e. Main and rod bearings
f. Rings
8. New torque converter for transmission, it seem to shifted good so we will see how it goes.
9. In the process of prepping engine bay for paint

So I put my engine together this past weekend and it went really smooth. As you can see the block looks like it has less than 15000 miles on it. Hone the cylinders walls and replaced rings, rod and main bearings. Starting to prep and paint engine bay this weekend. Can’t wait! Here’s more pictures of engine build. What do you guys think?
