This is the starting point of my build. I should have my truck bought and home in 6 weeks. Looking forward to removing the first bolt from my project, "Thunder Lord".

Just went through you post here, very impressed. I helped (got things, held parts in place, grinded) put a CV in a friend's friends truck. Didn't see finished job. I am going to do the swap myself on my 69 I'm buying soon. The questions I am asking are because I don't want the truck to cut grass. I just want a lower ride for handling.

I know the starting points, remove front end, weld in bracing and cut out cross member. Now with a bare frame, where to start? How do I measure for center line, where the CV nipples stick in the frame. With that measurement, I can drill, cut, grind and then weld.

There is another question I don't think has been asked. How much does this lower the front? I have heard 5 to 6". Dropbeams go 3". Would it be possible to put a 2" block between the CV and the frame?

You won’t be cutting any grass. In fact, I’m hoping it’s going to be low enough. As for the measuring, see the hole I circled in the pic below, that is the axle centerline. If you go 1/4” forward of that hole on the lower rail, that’s where the CV pins pop through. It’s between the other 2 holes below it. Depending on your wheel size, you can tweak it forward or back a touch to get the right look under the fender.

My thoughts exactly on being low enuff rms... i did talk to a guy up north thats supposed to be workin on some mounts this week, guess we’ll see. I probably need to take a small break anyways and get the boat ready for some crappie!

I’m not 100%, but I believe they were 225/60/15 front and 265/60/15 rear.

Finished up the C-notch and painted the back half. Also, figured a way to adapt the Explorer 8.8 e-brake to the truck. Got some Cal-tracs installed too.






Decided on the stand alone Holley Digital Dash. This is an all in one touchscreen setup; gauges, turn signals, switches, you name it. However, no EFI for me. I'll be running a carb'd 6.0 LS.

Yes, I got those motor mounts.

As far as the mounting of the digital dash, it’s going to sit just as it is in my picture, except the wires will pass through the back so they won’t be seen.
