I've heard that ebay is going to start cracking down on people who pull stuff like that. Since ebay cant charge you for shipping costs (wether or not the $$ is used for shipping) they're evading ebays fees. Which isnt making ebay very happy ;) I'll be glad when they do, its really a shady practice

You should send him an email asking to be paid for providing the info.

Just an unethical seller. Using the system to avoid paying eBay. Folks like him who will make life difficult for the rest. The total cost is about what you would expect to pay for the switch.

Yeah, the total cost is what they are going for. I don't think he was trying to be shady, as the buy-it-now was .99 cents.. I think he was trying to short change Ebay.

It's the ones with the "hidden" mandatory shipping and handling and insurance charges that I don't like.

from above ebay item description.....
I don't like to pay fee-bay that is why shipping is what it is.
can't be any plainer than that....

and to be honest, i do believe ebay has made more than enough off of me.

My take on this is..... Yep eBay has made alot of money.... but they're providing a market access like he can get nowhere else.... if ya wanna access that market, pay the price. If you don't want to pay, don't sit there and whine or find ways around paying... just sell it in your local paper and see what you make off it. It's not far from stealing the way I look at it... if everyone slithered around eBay's fees, then eBay might not be there next time you have something to sell.. think about it. If you don't wanna pay, don't play.
Just my opinion, and worth all ya paid for it.

I agree. More and more in this society there seems to be an attitute of "they have enough so it's ok if I steal from them." I personally don't get it. If you don't like what someone is charging, don't buy from them.

i think i sounded like i was condoning it. i think i was.... as to this, i'd never pay that kind of s&h on anything. (liar, i paid out the wazoo for s&h on my welder and my tranny.) I've been known to drive to pick something up to avoid shipping charges. and yes, ebay is a service which we are free to choose to use or not, and they do provide a bit of buyer protection you don't get elsewhere. that i know of.

sorry to sound like a lout.
but it gripes me, you get fee'd to list, fee'd when you sell, and fee'd when ever you take paypal..... someones getting rich off this internet yard sale.

I've only listed on E Bay, never sold...item sold locally before auction ended. I wasn't aware there is a second fee after the listing fee, how much is it?

Well said, Hardtail, well said.
The fees that Ebay charges are explained when you open an account. If you don't want to pay those fees, then close your account.
It's 'not far from stealing,' it IS stealing!
And it's people like that that result in higher fees for the rest of us.

mytmatt.. the final fee, in addition to the listing fee is a percentage of the final sale price. That's why some sellers do a low sale price, and high shipping.

Same total price, but results in a lower fee to ebay.
