NP435 Question

Post by mcarlson11 »

What cuases the shifter stick to vibrate violetly back and forth after shifting into fourth gear, between 30-40 mph?

The engine is not lugging, and it Doesnt feel like the tranny itself is moving either.

MPH might be a little low for that gear. Does it do that at a higher speed?

That's what I was going to suggest too. I know it might not seem like the engine's lugging, but I'll bet the engine RPM is still a little low for that gear.

when you say "after shifting into fourth gear" do you mean as you're letting out the clutch, or just cruising? if it's while the clutch is being let out (assuming you have a clutch, not an auto) you're going too slow for that gear, it's just the pressure plate, and most likely the whole truck would shake, which i s'pose you would have mentioned... so, what i'm trying to say is, ignore me, listen to Keith and Greg, what they're saying is the truth... :D :D

No, it does it with the clutch fully engaged and im already cruising. And engine rpm is about 1400-1800 when it does this.

Occasionally it will randomly shake, even if im just on the freeway of cruising town at 50mph, this doesnt happen very often though.

my truck will do the same thing if i run it in 4 th gear below 35 mph , I just run it in 3rd untill I get to at least 40 mph ....my guess is the speed is just too slow for the engine ....

Mine has T18, but it does exactly the same thing. Put it back in 3rd.
