truck identification

Post by mljjones67 »

So far I am a little confused on the exact identity of my truck. First the title says its a 67 4x4 f-250. the vin# on the store matches the title. Here lies the problem. According to the web pages here at fordification the doors should have the lever and locking knobs. Well either the person that replaced the doors, if they were replaced did a real good job of putting the vin plate back on door(looks like it was never removed) Or because my truck was built later 1967 it received 68 doors. Has anyone heard of this before? I am pretty sure the doors are original. But I could be wrong. Any light on this would be great.

If yours was one of the last '67s, and the factory was out of '67 doors, it may have gotten '68 doors.
Those are the factory rivets holding the VIN plate on.

Flyboy, those rivets don't look stock to me.

Also notice the window cranks are '67.

Is that a blue armrest? What color is the interior?

Yeah those are definitely not factory rivets...they should look more like this:

I'd venture a guess that the previous owner just replaced the '67 doors due to rust issues, and just transferred the VIN plate over. Those doors are definitely not original to your truck.

thanks guys. I am going to need both doors anyway, cancer has ate through the bottom of the doors. So maybe I will go back to 67's. I don't really like the arm rests anyway. The interior is a cream color I don't know if thats original. It seems some stuff was left off the tag. Or I missed it cause it doesn't say what rear end or gears it has or the interior color.

Here is your tag decoded:

F26 - F250 4WD
Y - 352 V8
R - San Jose, Ca
B41552 - #41,552 made in June 1967
131 - 131 inch wheel base
6 - Pebble Beige exterior color
F260 - 4X4 6800 GVW
O - Dark blue interior Ranger vinyl bucket seats.
81 - conventional cab
A - 4 speed new process
25 - 4.56 Dana 60 rear
DA - 7,000 or 9,000 front axil capacity (there are 2 D's listed 7000 and 9000 :hmm: )
6800 - Max GVW of truck
172 - Horse power at...
4000 - 4000 RPM

Hope this helps. The blue interior doesn't make sense with a beige truck though. There is no "D" on the decoder so I just assumed it was an O.

Thanks for the decode I will take a picture of the dash. It is the pebble color. the only thing that is blue is the armrests and the seat. Visors are not blue

Yes, but the dash is beige and the seat and arm rests are blue. Just like the vin tag says.

Well It does not really matter because, I am going to change the colors anyway. I thought about going stock but custom is so much more fun. No ideas on the colors yet. But soon I hope. Lots of work to do!
