Lets see...for the running gear on my 70 F-100:

Balanced & Blueprinted 410 Merc w/tri-power, 10.5-1 Comp, big Erson cam and ported heads
Close ratio toploader/Centerforce dual friction clutch
4.56 Detroit Locker 31 spline 9" rear (switched to pumpkin with 3.50 gears for trips)
Headers/Supertrapp mufflers
Power brakes

Interior:

6 way power leather Lincoln seats with custom center console
Alpine sound
Sunroof
Button tufted red crushed velvet everywhere!

Body:

Cowl induction scoop
Over a million candlepower of lighting built in to the bumper and grille (hit a deer once and that was enough)
Flattened tailgate with recessed plate
Custom tubular rear bumper
Frenched power antennae
Ford bright red paint with white, yellow and orange flames outlined w blue pinstripe

Too hard to pick a favorite!!!!!! Did all this back in the 80's on my only vehicle through high school and college before bumps were cool-they were just old. Learned more than I did in school!!

Frenching is actually a recessed mounting, commonly done in the 50's-60s on antennas, headlight-tail lights and such. A common trick that I used was to utilize the outer tube of an old shock absorber-just the right size and wall thickness for frenching an antenna. I frenched it right behind the passenger door, about where the gas filler is on the driver's side. Radio off--no antenna, it retracted to about an inch below the body line. Radio on-and the power antenna came up to just above the roof line. I think the whole frenching trend started with the leadsled Merc's and stuff.

I'm not sure, I'll dig around and see if I have a picture. Unfortunately, I am separated from my pickup by over 4000 miles right now, and when I did it was before the days of digital pics-and even the internet.

I just got done installing power steering on the crew a couple hours ago and all I can say is HOT DAWG!!! It's freakin awesome to be able to steer with one finger, when just yesterday I had to use all my might to turn the 33's into a parking spot. For anyone who has a non-power steering highboy and isn't sure if they want to do the factory style power assist or the newer conversion, I can tell you that the power assist works awesome as far as I'm concerned, and it only took about two hours to install. I like that it still takes 4 turns (give or take) lock to lock, just because with the big steering wheel it still feels like a big truck. Anyways, I'm PUMPED! Best mod so far! :D

cool deal on the power assist install. probably going to go the 73-Up power steering 4x4 update on my crew.

on the antenna, are you saying you mounted it at the back of the cab? I've been wanting to see if i can fit one in to the factory spot on the cowl.

Yes, right behind the passenger door between it and the rear cab corner.

Cool thread! :)

Favorite mod...
Had my Ford integral power steering gear line bored and new bearings installed.

Went from 2+1/2" of play at the steering wheel to less than 3/8"! ---> No kidding.
I had changed out ever'thing else and that was the last piece to fix...
...the sorry bearing-less Ford power steering gear.

Look at an exploded view of it and you'll see... -it don't got no bearings-. :/

Mine's a '75 F150 dent, BTW. ;) Sorry. ;)

Anyway I've got two more power steering gears and will be having them lined bored
and bearings put in them too and plan to talk to them about shipping and receiving
or if I have to be a middle man for the service. :/
...but want to offer the modification to others.

I'm a tinkering fool and that's my favorite modification out of a hundred or more.
I don't take anything apart without trying to figure out some way to improve it.

Ok, this dent sider will shut up now. :)

Hey, dents are welcome here anytime! They're the next best thing to a bump...

The best Mod I made to my 70' F-250 was putting 69' F-250 Disk Brakes on it.

Right now i'm running a 351 clevland in it, but I want to find a nice 360 for it.
Or Mabey re build the 69' 460 Lincolin than my dad had in it LOL.

Easily the Fuel injected 5.0 with ECM. Combined with full electronic computerized ignition. Oh yeah and the 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission.
