Fender Questions

Post by Joshpow »

Have any of you ever noticed a slight difference between the 60's fenders and the 70's fenders for these trucks? I got a fender from a 67-69 to put on my 71, and noticed that the area where the panel behind the grille lays in the top of the fender is a little smaller on it than the 71. I also noticed that the holes for the grille to mount are a little different and need to be re-drilled for my 71 grille to work. None of this is a really noticeable thign, but there does seem to be slight differences. Is this really correct or am I out of my mind?

Did you change the rad support also?If so,the newer rad supports (73-79 trucks) are a little different. The fenders are the same from the 67-72's though. As far as being out of your mind, you'd need to get professional help to find the answer to that.I'm just a Millworker sorry ! :lolprev:

Ford lists the same service part number for all 67-72 front fenders:
C7TZ-16005-A RH
C7TZ-16006-A LH

No, Josh, you're not losing it. I discovered the same thing when inspecting some fenders I had a couple of years ago. The fenders were drilled different for 70-72 because of the change in grill design. All other mountings are the same. I love detail stuff and I've noticed lots of subtle differences in the 67-72 series interchangeable parts.

Man Im glad someone else has seen the differences also. I was beginning to think I was going off the deep end. Thanks for the input everyone. I know this was a sort of stupid post, but I love to pay attention to small details such as this that are often overlooked.
