Lighting problems

Help !!!

I have a question of someone with alot more knowledge about lighting than myself.
I have been trying to run down the lighting circuits on my '68 Ford Short body school bus "Olde Skool".
When I drove the bus home, it had no lights at all. I replaced the light switch and dimmer switch and got headlights and dash lights.
I ran down a couple more circuits and now have the fender mounted lights (which are also the turn signals). The turns dont work yet, I haven't gotten that far.
The fender mounted lights (parking lights) come on when I pull the switch to the first click postion. Whne I pull the switch to the next click position, the head and dash lights come on, but the fender mounted lights go out.. any ideas...

That is correct, Trucks did not have to have marker and running lamps on at the same time as the headlights until 1970.

At least now I know I am on the right track...
I still have no tailights or turn signals...
I can't believe what the PO has done to his thing. I have already pulled several ghost wires that weren't hooked up to anything...
yet were spliced into some of the main circuit wires...
I'm not ever sure where to start with the tailights and turn signals..
I have searching the country for a wiring diagram for this bus ... to no avail...

What series chassis is it?

Your next task is the turn signal switch... Which is where I think your problem is...

It's a '68 Ford F-500 / B-500 chassis with a Bluebird Bus body

Is there anyway to check the turn signal switch without replacing it first?

yes, but under the dash does it have one or two connectors coming out of the steering column and one other question does it have a red w black stripe wire going into the largest of two or the only connector?

I'll have to check on that. The wires plug into the signal switch right below the steering wheel (on top) is this the connection you are referring to?

Yes down on the steering column under the dash. Or does yours have an old style add on turn signal switch mounted outside the column?

Hey Kid,

No to the add on turn signal switch.
It has a wire bundle that comes up the top side of the steering column that plugs into the signal switch.
