heater box??

Post by LANCE65 »

Are all the NON-AC heaters the same on bumps? I remove the underdash ac yesterday and want to install just the heater box from a donor truck...67-72?? I will be replacing the engine in the future with a 501 and C6 and will also be upgrading the ac system,so right now I just need a heater. Thanks

There was an "economy" heater in 67 that didn't have cables.

Other than that they certainly all LOOK the same to me...

Hey Lance,

I'm pretty sure they are identical, I have the box from a '71 in my '68 now.

I agree they all seem the same to me. I recently got a heater box from a 71 non-ac to use for parts to rebuild mine. The only differnce I could find was the the little spring capacitor thing. I have no idea what it does, but I just reused the one from my 67 box to be sure.

Hey fireguywtc,

That spring thingy on the back of the box is the resistor so you can have variable fan speeds.
Without it, you only have one speed, high. Whioch is what I have in my truck now. I need to replace that resistor.

Got ya thanks Kaptn! Found a pic that Kieth posted, Mine has the bottom resistor with the 2 prong setup. The other type is from the donor box. Anyways, only difference I found between the two.
