Im looking at a new project.
Im a 78-79 fan but I found this 72 and kinda would like to save it.
Its a F-350 4x4.
Are they common?
I dont know to much about it I only looked at it once , Im going back to deal on it.
How easy are body and interior parts to find for 72's?
Ive never had any trouble finding 79 parts but Im wondering about 72's?

What kind of front end would be in this truck?

From what I know, Ford never made a F-350 4x4 until 79 or 80. It look to have the heavier GVW front end in it, usually refered to as a 44hd. I say buy it. Maybe thats why my yard is so full . Good luck. Doug

Do you know for sure there was no F-350 4x4's?
That was the only reason I was thinking about buying it.
I thought it might be rare and should be saved.
If there are no F-350's it can stay where it is.

I cant remember the name of the company but they did 4 wheel drive conversions for ford on the f-350 back then

Napco was the name of one of the companies that did the conversions. I guess the right way to tell is the VIN# should start with F35XXXXX. I beleive there is info on VIN# decoding on the home page. I am no encyclopedia so don't go off of mine statements only. Still looks to be a cool project. Doug

You say they sorta made them?
Do you mean they made 2 diffrent models of F-250's?
So the VIN tag on this truck isnt going to be a F-350 its going to be one of the conversion outfit's tag and not a Ford tag if its a real F-350?

Yes, they made two different F-250 4x4's from 68 through 75. 76-77.5 were all the same trucks. 77.5-79 there were two different GVW's again with the heavier being the snowfighter or search and rescue special. 79 only there was the F-350 4x4. The 79 F-350 4x4 was the same exact thing as the F-250, it just had a higher GVW on the door tag.

Look at the door tag on your 72. If it says 7700 for GVW it's the heavier truck. Something else it's the light duty version.

There isn't much difference. If you want a stocker truck the 7700 trucks have a nicer front axle that holds up better. If you plan to lift it and go disc brakes, etc. the GVW doesn't much matter. You'll toss all the stock parts anyway.

Don't buy a bumpside 4x4 because it's rare and you hope to turn a profit. Buy one that has a nice body. These 4x4 trucks are extremely rare with straight, rust free body's. They were all work trucks rode into the ground. If you find a decent one save it. You just plain don't see nice, original 67-72 F-250 4x4's on the road that haven't been rebodied with 2wd stuff.

Well i bought it.
Its not a F-350 its only a F-250.
I got a bunch of extra parts with it.
They had it running last fall.
For $400.00 I figured it was worth it.

Where I bought this truck he has box sides for a 70-72 shortbox.
They are in very good condition from what I can see.
Lots of dash and interior parts if anyone needs anything.
A found a woodgrain dash for a 72 in another trucks cab, it looks pretty good.
