When it comes to the actual welding part.. I'm not the one with answers on that...
I haven't welded an inch yet.
I've just done a lot of research, and asked other members alot of questions, and passed on what I learned to you.
The 140 is the biggest 110v welder you get before going to a 220v one.
Because of that, you can mig weld sheet metal at lower settings, yet it is powerful enough to weld things as heavy as would be needed on our trucks.
The Lincoln 180 is 220v and is an excellent welder from what I learned, it is the smallest 220v one.
I went with the 140 simply because not every place has ready access to 220v, whereas everywhere you go you can get access to 110v.
As long as it is a 110v 20amp circuit and there isn't anything else being used on that circuit while your welding , you shouldn't have any problems at all.
My understanding is that it is really difficult to weld body panels (if not impossible) with a stick (arc) welder, they are just to hot and tend to burn through lighter metals.
As far as welding technique, I have been reading pert near every post about weldin' here on FORDification.
When I get my energy, after all these medical problems are taken care of I'll be ready to begin my lessons...
I have 2 friends that are professional welder that are gonna give me lessons as soon as I get the tank and shielding gas.
I also bought a couple of teaching CD's
I just got the teaching CD's so I owuldn't feel completely stupid and would know what the heck they talkin' about...

can't wait to use it. the box is still sealed shut. not going to open it until i return from West Virginia just so i won't have any ideas to do anything before i leave.
