Shop references

Post by 68FORDJBM »

What is the best shop manual for my 68 Ford and where can I get a copy?

What is the best place to order parts and tools for working on my truck?

I did a google search for "1968 Ford truck shop manual" and found quite a few shop manuals on CD but there is a couple of hard copy sets of three on e-bay :

I bought a set for my 71 and am glad I have it. It's nice to have the books so you can have them with you when you are working on the truck.

Junk yards sometimes have parts and occasionally someone on this forum will part out a truck. You can get parts from LMC Truck and other on line companies but I don't remember the names.

As for tools, I like pawn shops.

Good luck.

Hi 68FORDJBM,

My favorite manual is the official Ford manual, the Ford Truck Shop Manual. It's available through a product called "Detroit Iron" on CD-ROM, and I think that's your best option, if you have a decent computer and printer.

Here's a URL to a thread from long ago where I posted a review of the Detroit Iron product.

If you have time to wait on ebay there are full sets of original Ford manuals showing up frequently. I got a full set of the year I wanted there for less than $30. If your in a hurry order on of the cds.
