WHERE DO I PUT MY SPEAKERS?

Post by DIXONBOY »

I HAVE A 67 SHORT WIDE F100 AND I AM TRYING TO DECIDE WERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO INSTALL SPEAKERS. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON A HEADLINER AND I DON'T WANT TO CUT HOLES IN MY DOOR PANELS. I TOOK OUT MY RADIO AND MADE A PLATE FOR MY GUAGES OUT OF DIAMOND PLATE. I HAVE A 125 WATT AMP IM GOING TO PUT UNDER MY SEAT AND CONNECT MY IPOD DIRECTLY TO IT. " IVE TRYED IT AND ITS WORKS GREAT"

Someone on here built a box that went behind the seat, on top of the gas tank, or you could build a console for the middle and put speakers and such in it.

Please check your CAPS LOCK button before posting, to ensure you're not typing in all caps, which is considered shouting.

I'll tell you,
right after you turn off caps locks

I'll figure that you have turned them off :D
Either build a headliner, get a LMC headliner with speakers built in, build a speaker box for ontop of the tranny hump, make a box behind the seat, or the cab holes in the corners of the back of the cab.

cut the door panels and mount your speakers, i don't know why everyone makes such a big deal out of it :? we're not dealing with $150,000 70 hemi cudas here guys, their just old fords that had the speakers put in the door from the factory just a few years later anyway. put some grills over them and call it done!!!!

i can imagine a future potential buyer for my truck saying, "O i'll have to walk away on this one its got the door panels cut-up" :P

If you're worried about it, just grab another set of door panels to save for spares, in case you ever change your mind and want to return it to normal. But yeah, the factory put the speakers there in the doors, I see no reason why you can't do the same. Except that the factory actually put them into the lower door instead of the panel. But replacing a door panel is a lot easier than a whole door.

Do we need to get marine speakers or how long will they live with regular automotive speakers?

part of the arugment about not putting them in the door panel is the speakers go bad. plus you have to locate them in the correct position so they dont hit the glass when the window is rolled down. and by the time everyone sees the speaker in the door the grille has long since been lost or broken. i had a part truck that they put the speaker in the side cab wall.
