Been driving my 1968 F100 Ranger for almost 4 years now with no radio at all. Finally going to bite the bullet and put something in.
Probably going with the Custom Autosound 630 as it looks stock and can be hooked up to an iPod pretty easily with the adapter. I've got this same radio in my 1963 Bel Air stationwagon and have been pretty happy with it.
The PO hacked some horrible holes in the kick panels for some small speakers and I'll probably reuse those holes despite them being a bit small. I would really like to put in a Dual Voice Coil speaker in the stock dash spot if possible. I did this in the Bel Air and it really helps fill in the sound. Custom Autosound does not have a in dash speaker listed on their website for the 68-72 models.
Any suggestions where I can get a replacement speaker for the dash that is better than 1968 quality?

Hahaha... Well I must admit to using my iPhone/iPod with headphones for long drives.. but now I really want to put in a proper radio system. This website seems to have more options than just the CA radios, but I still like the 630 as you can get the iPod adapter and fully control the iPod from the stereo.JMcTurnan wrote:Man your crazy! Found these two speakers at Blue Oval

Anyone installed such speakers in the truck? Any idea of fit and sound quality?

If you're going for a stock look, by all means find the DVC speaker and pay a bit more for it so you know you're getting quality, but if you're fine with making some changes (and holes) I rode around in some buddies newer cars and realized what a big role their dome tweeters play and found a pair for my bump. They've got a crossover in line and are rated for 100 watts a piece, just got a hole saw fitting for my drill and punched through and didn't have to silicone them or anything, they just fit perfect and they seem to create a bigger part of the sound of my system (including a pair of 5.5''s on an amp and a pair of 12'' subs behind the seat along with 2 8''s and 4 2.25''s behind the seat as well) than anything else (other than the subs of course) since they're right in front of you and they are adjustable so you can angle them in a direction that you prefer the sound... my whole interior and gauge cluster lights up with blue led's so these were a steal for 20 bucks with a blue glowing ring around them!

the other one is located in the left hand half oval shaped end of my gauge cluster, referring back to your thread title though, these are 'in dash'
