Well, theres no turning back now. Dail up beware

Post by 71fordkid »

I finished taking the front end off and took the motor out of my bump last night. Today the cab came off. Tuesday the parts truck get here. Im so overwhelmed right now. Two days ago the truck was drivable.

When we took the oil pan off of the motor, we checked all the mains and some of the rod bearings. the rod bearings didnt look too terrible, but the mains were completely copper. :help: The crank needs to be turned probably another .010, its already been turned once (.010).

I'll have pictures and a video up soon.

Wow, so was the cab damaged along with the fender or was yours rusty?

EDIT: After looking closer at your cab mounts I think I know the answer to my question....

She pretty much was. haha. She had nice clothes on so she didnt wanna get dirty.

As for the damage, the fender was toast, it bent the a pillar, floor, inside cab wall, and the front cab mounts ripped off. I'll take better pics tomorrow of the damage.

I've deciced im gonna fill in all the holes except for the vents, put new vents in, and skip the dash pad.

There was actually no beer consumed. haha. All of us were totally sober, except the two scraggly lookin bearded guys (neighbors). I just watched the whole video over again, laughed my arse off.

And the cab had some pretty bad rust, but not too bad. the parts truck has zero rust. the floor boards are solid as a rock, the cab and doors are rust free, the bed is too. it even has the tool box in the passenger side of the bed and it has no rust in it at all either. the body is totally straight. all the rust was cut out and replaced by a body man. I lucked out for 450 bucks.

Neat vid. Around here your old cab would be considered very repairable. If the roof isn't rusted you might consider cutting it off to sell.
