went racing today

Post by Jarred Hodges »

and had a good time. We took the old mustang to the test and tune. The only difference from last time was adjusting the timing. It also had 93 octane in it this time instead of 112. The last time we had it out it ran a 8.96 at 77.74. This time I made 3 good runs. My best was a 8.35 at 84.96 with a 1.93 60ft. The other runs were 8.40, 8.47 and 9.06 all the runs I was spinning pretty bad. I think high 7's is coming soon. All and all it was a good day except the time the door came open and I ran a 13 something

camera is screwed up. I couldn't show an underhood pic of it anyway since this is a ford site. lol its a 65 coupe with a 355 glide. The best race today was me against a 240sx that had a turbo running 17 pounds of boost and a 50 shot. I got a better light but he pulled me on the other end. I ran an 8.40 at 84 mph that run to his 8.22 at 91mph

he was a nice guy.I knew I would loose but I was surprised I could run with him. He got down to high 7's at 99mph later

Not bad for a Nissan  :P, Sounds like the Pony did a great job at keeping up though, how soon do you plan to crack down into the high 7's?

just need a little more seat time and possibly a better tire. The people we got it from ran 7.80's with it all the time. I ave only made about 10 passes in the car so its still a learning curve

Just wondering, why do people buy a ford and put a chevy engine in it? I never understood that. :?

We took the mustang to test and tune at bama today. I made a total of 5 passes they were
8.58 at 84 off the trailer
8.53 at 89 2nd pass never has that much mph
On the 3rd pass I decided to idle into the start and not footbrake it I went
8.26 at 86
then I went an 8.23 at 86
and finally a 8.15 at 86.
I am mighty close to my goal of high 7's and the right converter should do it. I also cut a new best 60ft of 1.85
Before this the best et was 8.35 and the best mph was 85.65

its my old maverick. I have all the parts to put a nice 351w in it just gotta get it together. I have never raced the maverick. Right now it has a stock 302 that might run in the 9's. When the 351w is it it it should run mid to high 7's

That Mustang looks familiar. Did it come from California? The shackled rear and hood scoop thing look similar (if not the same) as a car I used to see around here. Could be a different one, this one was all yellow with a blue and black hood. It's been a few years.
