Door seals

Post by Orange Beezy »

Ok so I got my order from LMC today. Both door seals , windsheild and rear window rubbers and cowl lacing. I install the drivers door seal,no prob. done in 15 min. I close the door, now theres a problem. The door wont close all the way. Ok no biggie, adjust the door. Still does not close unless you SLAM it hard. What is the proper way to adjust doors? I do know that my upper hinge has a lil play and missing the spring. Do I start with the upper or lower hinge first ? Start with the upper and lower bolts of the hinge or the center bolt? Thanks in advance.

Someone made a thread a while ago with this exact problem... I think you have to "break them in"...

yes the seals are new they require time to relax before they will let the door close easily.

You can also adjust the striker on the latch side of the jamb. Mine are still tight after about 8 years

Yep, you just slam the door hard for a while. They'll compress again over time. That's just the nature of the beast.
