Frame Width

Post by bumt72 »

A while back someone posted the frame widths of the various for trucks, up to 79 I believe. Could you post it again. I searched the old site but couldn't find it.

I think the thread you're looking for in here at the old forums. Here's what you need, courtesy of 68F250:

- '67-'72 2WD/4WD all narrow (don't know how far back that goes, 34" wide was an SAE standard for all trucks back then)
- '73-'79 all 2WD narrow front, wide rear
- '73-'79 F100 4WD narrow front, wide rear
- '73-'77.5 F250 4WD all narrow
- '77.5-'79 F250 4WD narrow front, wide rear

Thanks, i've been researching the frame swap vs subframing vs front end grafting and trying to collect information on fseries trucks, wheel base frame widths etc. Coul you and everyone else take a look at this link and let me know if you know that anything is incorrect or can fill in some of the holes?

Thanks

I compared your numbers with the ones listed in the 'Standard Catalog of Ford Trucks 1905-2002' and found quite a few wheelbase figures that don't agree with your info, so I got them all for you here. For example, '74 and '75 were the only years of that era with a shortbox Crewcab:

Thanks Keith, somehow knew youd have it, grin. The one I had a big question on is the 73+ SWB trucks. I was getting numbers between 116 and 117. I found a 77 stepside that I was considering picking up for a frame swap for the 61 but a 3 inch difference??? Hmmm that may not look right. And the quest goes on.

Keith,

Are you sure about the 67' F350 crewcab? Heres what I found elsewhere?
