Any CB gurus, I have a question

I was just curious, if i mounted a mobile CB antenna on the roof of my house which is a metal roof, would it work worth a flip cus my current home base/mobil setup isnt that great

Laughed so hard my side started to hurt . If you can find a nice pole to put it on that would be great. My dad put one on a 60-80 foot pole. I can talk to my dad about 6 miles away from our house. Of course the hight the better just like on your vehical. You might also want to run a ground wire to the ground with a copper pipe or stake into the ground. Stay away from the trees around , I saw a couple in the picture.

alright, so mount the antenna at the top of the pole? how would I go about doin that? and yes if your wondering, I can turn the CB on and listen to people on my bike, Just can't make the trip back worth a flip

That bike is classic. Almost as good as having a window unit ac in the rear window of a truck with a generator in the bed.

Yeah it will work just fine. Be sure to use GOOD antenna wire. Not the truck stop junk from Jarman or whatever they are called. Check the SWR & dial it in.

Ive got an old Antron 99 base station antenna thats going to get thrown in the dump soon. The fiberglass is rough, but that doesnt affect the antenna performance at all. A little sandpaper and some clear lacquer would clean it up. Id give it to anyone who wants it, but I dont think I want to ship the thing....I dont have any packaging material suitable for something that long.


btw...if I was going to use a mobile antenna in that situation Id use a Wilson 1000. I think those are probably one of the best mobile antennae ever made, imo.

Im also trying to sell a Texas Star DX100V linear modulator....that would sure help out the base or the mobile...its variable power and has a great receive amp as well. Just have to make sure you have a low SWR. I'm asking 100 firm for that but ebay keeps pulling my listing on it (it is illegal to use it on a cb). I used to have a CB shop in the late 90s but Ive since sold about everything aside from a few classic radios.

The cb mount clamp you have clamped around your bike frame will work if you take the time to drill 2 out of the 4 holes to secure it to the pole. If you feel like drilling all 4 holes you can. Two will be good enough, but make sure the pole is well in the ground not sure how much the wind gets going down there. Make sure you have the plastic insulating ring that seperates the pole to the mount.

What type of cb do you have and does your cb transmit or no?

Oh and some good advice never key a mic with out a cb antenna hooked up. I have seen countless kids smoke new cbs by doing that. (The $40 ones)

My past truck my dads two trucks a dune buggy of mine all had cb's. All from Cobra, K40, Midland, Uniden, Realalistic, and galaxy. Everything from figerglass antennas, 8ft whips which I love, coil antennas. Any questions feel free to ask.
