scrap prices

Post by spfd68 »

I cant believe what they are paying for aluminum. I took the camper shell of the 70 and took all the screws and anything alse metal out and took it to the scrap metal place. I figured I would get like $5. Turns out the price is .44 a pound. All that aluminum wieght 71#'s. I got $31. That to me was incredible. Are the prices for scrap the same in other places? Now I know how the scavangers can make a living doing this.

Ya, the salvage yards see this also. Thats why they are cruching cars and trucks at a high rate. I guess the high recycle prices has their goods and bads.

Recycle cans, it pays off in the long run and it doesn't take a lot of work.

The last couple years my kids have been collecting and taking just the aluminum can tabs to school for somekinda Ronald Mcdonald house drive?? Its amazing how just the tabs can pile up to a substantial amount of scrap credit. It does pay off if you have the want to do it.

I drink 5 cans of caffiene free Diet Pepsi per day (one going to work, one for each break, one on the way home.) We save the cans. When we have several bags my wife takes them in to the recycler. $5-6 of 'free' money!) :D
