If it's got a beat I'll listen for at least long enough to decide if I like it or not

There is only good music and bad music. I mostly don't like top 40 radio. I like old rock, contemporary Christian, classical, bluegrass, jazz, R&B, and even some country but not that ackey brakey stuff, mostly early like Patsey Cline and early Johnny Cash.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Contemporary Christian, Old school country, bluegrass, and singing old church hyms (yes, I know I won't get any cool points for that one, but oh well)

You will from me!
I think if more of those old hymns were sung more often, maybe this world wouldn't be in the mess it's in. :(
I enjoy Michael W. Smith and Ray Boltz.
I also like some of the old rock like CCR.
I like Journey and Air Supply.
I love good mountain music. The banjo and hammered dulcimer in particular.
I also like listening to Celtic music. Just something about the sound of the pipes! :)

I remember going to a music store and buying a Led Zepplin tape along with a Willie Nelson... the guy at the checkout counter said he'd been there a long time and had never seen that combination before! :? I like about all of it, but played mostly country, bluegrass and some older rock. I had an absolute BLAST singing big band!!! Most of the newer stuff just doesn't do it for me at all!

I used to be a disc jockey in the 60's so I listen to 1955 to about 1970.
Like somebody earlier said, it sort of sets the mood. Plus, you can understand the words, the lyrics are clean, and it has a beat.

Bobaloo, you sound like you're rating a record on the old American Bandstand tv show..."Yeah,Dick,I think I'd buy the record" :D

I agree about the mood thing....Sometimes,when I'm on my way to work about 5:00 a.m.,I like cranking out Deep Purple,Black Sabbath,Pink Floyd,White Snake,Moody Blues and whatever other colors the classic rock station will throw my way(Yellow Submarine? :P )...

But I find nothing more relaxing or invigorating than cruising in my '72,or at home listening to my old AM table-top radio, hearing the likes of Sinatra,Andy Williams,Vicki Carr or Brenda Lee...Hearing those old 50's and 60's solo artists,on those old mono AM radios, kinda puts me in a mood where the world isn't such a bad place....
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

I like all types of music except opera and rap. Just depends on my mood. But the last 5-7 years, I can tell I'm getting old because nothing really interests me too much anymore. Last time I felt passion about music was during the grunge era. Living in Seattle it had a profound effect on me and I was never into heavy metal or stuff like that. I feel kinda disillusioned about music today. Don't get me wrong, I've heard some stuff I like, but a lot more I don't. I listened to a lot of 50's jazz in college and find myself going back to that again because I am always in a mood to hear that.
That's MR. Jackass to you fellah!
