what kind of pump

what kind of pump can you use to make a parts cleaner machine? can it just be a submersable little pump. the kind you see in water falls in your house? except with enough psi or volume to give out enough fluid.

i figure on using mineral spirits or some such thing. whatever is the best and wont be flameable.

It's been my experience that the pumps used to pump water don't react well to having chemicals pumped through them. It eats the seals and vanes. The pumps we use at work to transfer oil and coolant are Dayton flexible impellar pumps, Model #5uxl7 they are 110v 1/10hp and draw 1.6 amps, and they're rated for chemicals. They are made with a standard garden hose fitting in and out so they're easy to hook up. They're pretty impressive little pumps, they'll move 10 gallons of coolant in about 2 1/2 minutes. I would think that to be just about right for a parts washer. I don't have a pic to post but we buy ours through Grainger, I'm sure you could get online and find it in their catalog. All that said they are a little pricey, Grainger lists them for $80 retail. Hope this helps.

i figured a water type pump wouldnt work. that s why iw as asking. i figured it would have to be a chemical rated pump. i do have a grainger catalog. they are freaks sometimes when you call them. oh we dont sell to just anyone. whatever. call them back 6 months later. sure we will sell you one. i probably wont even go to lenexa to even ask them in person. anyway. i think it is time to find a barrel first. i have a 55 gallon i could trade someone for a 30 gallon. maybe i will try that.

i just thought of this today. but how about a fuel pump from a truck? that should hold up to the chemicals i would think. 14-15 pounds of pressure shouldnt be too bad as long as i aim it correctly. or regulate it down if i have to.

264 g/hour = 1.2 pint a second - sounds ok - but we don't know what the psi is

where as a fuel pump much less

i'm not sure i want pressure really. i was just thinking abou t apump i have that doenst put out the correct pressure for my truck. the northern pump looks like a deal at 30.00.

All of our chemicals at work are metered and pumped using peristaltic pumps
