Hi guy's.I picked up a new alternater today.Was wondering,are they supposed to get a little warm?Never noticed weather they do or don't before.
1968 F-100 Custom Cab
300 6cyl 4spd


If it ain't broke,what the hell, fix it anyways !

Thanks for the reply.The battery was pretty low on charge when I installed the alternater,so mabe thats why.I had the regulator off,and it looked fine on the inside,I do have a spare one,mabe I should put it on,as I'm not to sure how to test it.What do you think?

You will need a volt meter. Attach the red lead to the positive on the alt and the black lead to a ground. Increase the RPM and if the alt is charging properly it will read around 14.3.

if you don't have a voltmeter, i picked up an alternator tester at radioshack for $5, you just hook it to the battery while its running and it tells you if your system is charging properly, its not as effective as the voltmeter but it works.
