PST Poly Kit

Post by bwc302 »

I just received my Front End Rebuild Kit from PST today and the bushings looked like standard black rubber. Also the draglink they sent with it does not look like the one off the 76 2W donor truck (more of a bend in it than the 76).
(Draglink part #'s were TRE 806 and DS 807 -- I may have the numbers reversed)

Does it sound like I was sent the wrong kit?

Thanks,

Bobby

hmm, im not really sure. Sounds like they did for the drag link. The bushings are usually black unless they say they will come in a different color.

Also, Im going to rebuild my front end in about a week or 2, new tie rod ends, drag link, bushings. all that good stuff. Do you have a link that shows your kit?

I was looking at the kits here. $254.95 http://www.performancesuspension.com/truckfek.htm

I've got the PST kit on my truck too, and yes, they're supposed to be black. You'll notice that they're quite a bit harder than the stock rubber pieces though. Just make sure they they aren't rubber....when I ordered mine they accidentally sent me the regular replacement rubber axle pivot bushings. When I called them they immediately sent out the right pieces. Here's a pic of what the pivot bushings should look like:

Did you order the kit for a '76? If so, I'd suggest calling PST back and letting them know they sent the wrong one. IMO they seem to be very easy to work with.

Thanks Keith, yes I got it for the 76 and of the 6 or so bags I recieved, not one of them had the Poly sticker that your picture shows. In additiion all of them to be easily plyable rubber (I can bend them around with 2 fingers).

Sounds like I may have gotten the wrong kit.

i called my auto zone and it would be around 40 bucks for a tie rod, 70 bucks for a drag link, 8 for the sleeve, and then probably another 20 for bushings. the guy didnt know what a kingpin was, so he could not find anything lol. All in all I think the kit from PST is a better price.

I have the invoice around here somewhere, but I'm not sure where it's at right now. I do recall specifically asking them about buying the polygraphite bushings separately, and was told they'd be more expensive that way, since they really only sold them as a kit. I didn't really push the issue since I needed the whole kit anyway.

I also did some pricing beforehand and decided that the whole kit was probably the best way to go.

So are they having you send the rubber bushings back? When they sent me the rubber versions by mistake they told me it wasn't worth it to them to pay for return shipping and just told me to keep them. It actually worked out in the long run since I needed good pivot bushing shells for the polygraphite pieces, so I just had to remove the rubber portions of the new rubber ones to give me two new shells. :D

I called them about 5 times today and they returned my call once, but we didn't get together (they close at 5 EST). We will catch up with each other Monday and I agree, with the Poly kit the cost will all equal out.

Hopefully they will let me keep the rubber, but if they won't I will send them back.

The guy I spoke to in sales tonight said the poly bushings are about $20 a pop.

I am sure we will get it squared away.

Thanks,

Bobby
