ball joints#

Post by Mctrick »

I've got a 69 F 100 4x4 dana front axle, my question is what are the part#'s that I need for the ball joints for the upper and lower? So far the rubber bushing for the axle have been replaced on the axle side of the radius arms, and the the body bushings of the radius arms are good shape. New front shocks and going to replace front coils springs.  The truck is in Washington state and is being shipped here (Omaha, Ne)to me in about two weeks. All the work so far has been done by my brother in Spokane, Wa. I also put new tires on it. When I got this from my brother it had been sitting for about 4 year and when he got it out of storage it did not want to start so I got a compete MSD ignition system and cured that but then the death wobble set in and that when I got the tires and axle bushings and shocks. Kching $$$. As soon as I get it here I'm replacing all U-joints in outer axles and drive lines. But the ball joints I'm not sure of which ones to get. Thank you for your help if you know and have knowledge of part #'s. Mike    . This is going to be my BBQ business company vehicle.

IF you go with spicer its pn# 706116X that contains 1 upper and 1 lower, or Moog pn# K8194T and K8195T I'm not quite sure on number of ball joints per box. The moog ball joints are available at the local oreillys and six states/ high mountain 4x4 should have the spicers.

I was under the impression a 69 F100 4x4 has an open knuckle kingpin Dana 44.

That would mean no balljoints.

You have a point, doing more research off this schematic :http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... ront02.jpg and looking at part# 3147 and reading on this website http://www.quad4x4.com/ford44f1970-1979.html#king I see what your saying to be true. The only reason I don't know is my truck is not her in Nebraska yet as it still in Washington St. And I'm not able to inspect it first hand. I assume it had ball joints. And just made an ass out of myself. I take it that when you tighten that kingpin down to seat it it must use a pinch fit on the bottom ujoint to hold it stable. Or does it have another kingpin in the bottom facing up that hold the knuckle? Looking at the schematic it hard to decipher how it held in place on the bottom. Thank you averagef250.

I just assumed it was, but if its like the king pins on my 60 you've got at tapered baring in the bottom with a nylon bushing up top with a spring that applies presser down on it. Hell I've seen more 67-72 trucks in the wrecking yards that have reverse spiral open knuckle ball joint drum brake then the king pin 44. Maybe some one swapped it or I don't know maybe its a spokane thing mainly at the pull and save.

I see that your up there in Spokane (fordguy). These trucks are hard to come by out here of late, do to the fact that they do heavy salt concentrations the on the roads. The trucks made in the 80's sim to rust as you watch them, and at night you can hear them! Now this is not a joke , I was setting at a stop light and this Chevy truck 1/2 ton pulls next to me on my leftside,I look at it and I was seeing this guys legs thur the passenger side door.LOL.... all natural A/C! The vehicle's I see in a day out here driving around in Omaha, that if they were in Spokane or any city in Washington, the the County police or the State Patrol would empty there book on it before you would back out of the driveway. Anyway the picture that you posted is of a kit for one side or does it come for both side? And do you know the cost of the kit? Just doing research I spect about $70.00 a side. Not including u-joints. Then tierod ends and anything else you can put your hand on. $$$$
