Need Info for a body swap

Post by bigwhiteford »

Need info for a body swap... not my human body

I bought a 71 F250 4X4 that has rusted out 67 F100 body monted on it. I plan on swapping m good 71 F250 2WD body on it, so I need a "How To " so I don't mess anything up.

any help is most appreciated !

BWF,

I'm still in the planning stages for my project, but after trolling around a bit on the forum I'm sure I can advise you.

First step, use the search tool, whether Google or on the forum. It will help you find a lot of easy answers and avoid ribbing from some of the dinosaurs on the site.

Second, check out the tech articles on the site. Two articles you'll want to read are sheet metal interchange and chassis comparison. The sheet metal interchange should help you meet your immediate needs, the chassis comparison will support the notion that no project is ever done.

Third, Start turning wrenches - this sounds like a bolt-on affair, though there could be some minor hiccups like the transfer case shift lever opening in the 2wd cab, floor shift to column shift, etc.

Good luck!

67 F-100 Flareside, 300, Offenhauser 360, Holley 390, Duraspark and MSD ignition, NP-435 4-speed, 3.55 Dana 60, and it will absolutely roast 30" rear tires taking off in 2nd (the one time I tried scared the Bejeezus out of me)

Next engine mod: RV cam (252*)

Thanks, but as you see by my in date I'm one of the old dinosaurs ... almost ten years ;-)
The shifter is easy, just swap the floor hump pan. Columns swap easy. I've had my 71 F250 2wd for over ten years and swapped a power steering set up in it years ago. What I'm asking for is if any one has a " Watch out for this!" Kind of ideas.

The 2wd cabs use a different location to the rear cab body mounts than the 4x4s. however the 4x4 body mount location is embossed and can be easily punched out for the cab bolts.
