1970 F100 4x4 small lift

Post by 70short4x4 »

Hey guys. I have a 70 F100 that I recently put 2" lift coils on the front of to give it a little more height to fit 33s. Now upon measuring my rear sits exactly 1" lower than the front (probably about .5" after the front coils settle). I literally only want one more inch in the rear to give it that perfect stance (in my eyes). I measured and the rear block is 3", so naturally replacing that with a 4" block would put me in business....but are there any blocks out there that work with the 2.25" wide leafs in the rear? I've been looking and seem to only be able to find 2.5" wide stuff. Or is there a small lift add-a-leaf out there that would work for me? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give!

I suggest driving it a bit more (even offroad!) to let the front springs settle.

I'd do an add-a-leaf.

I plan on it. Before the front Springs the front sat 1.5" - 1.75" lower than the rear. So even when the springs settle I still think at best it's going to be maybe perfectly level. I would actually like to have a tad bit of rake to it...maybe an inch or half an inch. And it's a shortbed so I really don't want to make the suspension too stiff in the rear if I can avoid it. Although I have considered an add a leaf. I was still having a hard time finding stuff that's only 2.25" wide to match the rear spring width.
But upon more research I found that the 66-77 Broncos had the same width springs. So I hopped on Bronco graveyard last night and found a set of 4.5" rear blocks and U bolts that I am going to try. That will lift the rear up 1.5" and in the end give me .5" to 1" of rake in the rear, which I think will actually work pretty well. When I look at lifted bumps it seems like even when perfectly "level" there is less space between the rear wheel wells and tires than the front....and that's always bugged me a little.
