Fuel filter change

Post by 1guydude »

Hey how do i change this.metal.screen type filter in the bottom of.my.fuel.pump?
Do i have to remove the pump and rinse it.all.out? Is there a sleeve type that goes.over this.metal.screen? Should.i just buy a new one and replace this unit? Gonna flush the whole gas system since the previous owner said he did it but obviuosly a.poor.job or not at all.

Can you post a photo? I can only picture the pleated paper filter in the fuel pump. What truck/engine is this for?

The metal can screws off and you replace the filter that's in there. Mine have always been paper.

Is the can cover stuck or the filter inside stuck to the pump?

The filter. I have a pvc wrench that made short work of the canister.

In your picture, 9355 is the outer canister. It should screw off. The ring at the top is a rubber O-ring that goes on top of the canister to seal it. 9155 should be the paper pleated filter. It should simply pull off in the downward direction. I've never seen reference to a metal filter. Are you sure you have a Ford fuel pump? If not, maybe it screws on, or maybe there's a retaining nut on the bottom of the filter.

I tried to unsrew it as well. Just turned and turned.
I think whoever dropped the 360 or.390.in my truck left the original everything for everything. Lol
Its shows just an o ring in the diagram i found. Ill post a pic.of the metal screen hopefully.later when i drain the fuel that comes out and pull that canister.
