Hole in firewall...?

Post by Bullitt74 »

Dumb question - Anyone know what this open hole is for in the firewall?

Hmm, my speedo cable comes through another hole just to the right of that one:

Looks like it has a fairly robust grommet as well, so not sure if I can move it without damaging the grommet.

Thoughts?

My speedometer cable comes through your open one. Has a foam gasket much like the one on the heater cable...

I wonder if my body man routed the speedo cable through the wrong hole? Seems like more of a straight shot to the cluster to route it through the hole that is open. If that is the case, I wonder what is meant to route through the hole that my speedo cable currently goes through?

I'd lay money that's where the heater temp cable comes through.

Heater cable goes through over the passenger side valve cover. 2 Wiring harnesses over the driver side valve cover speedo cable over booster in the vacant hole in the first picture. Another wiring harness over the near the hood hinge.

Thanks Robert! Going to rejig these around a bit. Sounds like I didn’t need to drill a hole in my firewall earlier for some add ons...
