Can i swap my 70' front axle with a 02' front dana 60?

I have a 1970 F-250 4x4 and it has drum brakes in the front and not only do i want disk brakes but i also want the dana 60. i found a dana 60 from a 2002 F-350. Does anyone think that axle swap will be possible?

Anything is possible if you really want it but will the 02' Dana 60 axle be a direct bolt in,....no. The distance between the center of the spring pads is wider on the 02' axle. If you really want a Dana 60 axle that will bolt up to your 70' f250, you will need to look for a Dana 60 out of a 78' - 79'. They are getting harder to locate and when you do find one, they demand $$$.

Welding new spring pads will get it installed but:

When did the bolt pattern go metric?

What sized tie rods does it use?

Brake lines just need Metric fittings on the caliper hose ends?

Track width cause rubbing issues?

If you can sort that out I would also do the rear and upgrade the master cylinder to what the '02 used.

Why don't you just keep a lookout for a 78-79 front dana 60? it will seem expensive to buy one cause they typically go for more money ( at least around here) than any other dana 60 because it would be almost a direct bolt in.
