There is a C3....basically a smaller version of the C4, used with 4-cylinder and V6 engines only.

So how can I tell what I have. I have a 1970 Ranger XLT 390 2-wheel with a Cruise-o-matic in it. Is it a C4 or C6.
How can it be spoiled if it still tastes good

Steiner_5000, Well I guess my tranny guy made a mistake on the C3 thing but you can look at the pan on it and if it has a big L shape its a C6 and if it is square/ rectangular its a C4 or cruise-o-matic. Look in a jegs or summit book under tranny drain pans and you will see what I mean about the big L shape. I hope this works, Charles

FYI: If that "Tranny Guy" worked for me, he wouldn't be working for me...

Or in other words I'd get a new "Tranny Guy"...

Mrungowa, Well if my tranny guy was working on a cruise-o-matic I might worry about it but since I had a C6 I'll just keep him. I have used him for about 18-19 years and no mistakes so thats a pretty good record or its better than looking in the phone book or walking in blind at another shop. He was the guy that changed the fluid and adjusted the C6 in my 88 F250 7.3 and it had 296K on it when I sold it with out being pulled.

Whoa, There my Brother!

Let me clear the air a little!

From what you wrote it appeared (at least to me :? anyway) that you indeed did have a Cruise-O-Matic and that he (your Tranny Guy) was incorrect in identifying your transmission as a C6!

:hmm: Now do you understand where I was coming from?

Remember now, it was real early in the Morning (Here on the West Coast) and yes I'm still on my medication :) :o :D :), Honest engine...Had a Root Canal last week a Real F'n bad one too!

No hard :argue: feelings now? Life's much too short especially between FORDification Brothers! :fr: :drive: :fr:

Ahh, the joy of a root canal, I'm still paying off two of those.
What kind of sadistic mind does it take to be a dentist? Really, they get to inflict extreme pain and torture, (and I'm not talking underwear on the head here), and get paid big dollars for it!!! :$$: :$$: :$$:

Tell me about it!

How does 33mm's sound?

That how deep the Endodontist (a fancy name for an over priced Dentist) Guy had to bore down My Root!

The longest/deepest tool he had was 35mm. He said that he didn't know what he'd do if he had to go past 35mm...

So I've been poppin' :D Vicodin's:D for over a week like Fred Flintstones Vitamins!!! :) :) :D :)
