help with name of paint color

Post by 390FE1972 »

I have a 1972 F250 that was built in March of 1972, it has an O for the exterior paint code. When I look up this code in the 1972 vin info it says O is Sea Pine Green. I see several names for Sea Pine Green: Sea Pine Green Metallic, Medium Metallic Green, and Sea Pine Green. My truck is a Sports Custom truck but it looks like the 1972 Explorer Green truck. My truck looks more like the U code which is Limestone Green or Medium Lime Poly. There is some pictures here of Happy Campers truck interior that is the same color as my truck, it is about 2/3 rds of the way down in his thread.
It is where he shows pictures of his cruise module & horn relay behind his instrument cluster. My truck has not been repainted so I know it is the original exterior & interior color of the truck. Thanks for any help on this as I am confused on what to call the color. :hmm:

As you stated the "O" code is Sea Pine Green from the Ford paint codes below.
Maybe fading through the years or a repaint? :hmm:
Try looking in "hidden" places the UV rays can't hit to see if the paint is the same there.

Thanks, basketcase0302 for the response. My exterior is faded, but where I look under the dash and inside the glove box it doesn't appear to be the same color as the chart shows for Sea Pine Green. I don't see any indications that the truck was ever repainted. I wonder if a Marti report tells you the name of the color that your truck is painted? Or does it just give you the code like the vin tag? If anyone has gotten a Marti report on their truck please let me know if it states the color name, if so I'll look into getting the Marti report on my truck.

Thanks again

Yes the Marti report tells you the name of the paint color. I have reports for all my trucks. They are very informative and worth the money.
