Would the 4x4 parts work on the 2wd? Like the steering column, top shift cover of the transmission, and other things like that? Thanks for your time

Right, but as far as things like the steering column, and other things would all that still bolt up? Anything to do with the frame and suspension I’m leaving alone

The length of the shaft coming out of the steering column is different. I believe the 4wd shaft is shorter. I could not find a decent used 4wd shaft and bought the replacement from IDIDIT that works on either...

Totally different steering shaft. The 2wd has a rag joint, the 4wd has a u-joint. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... column.jpg. On a positive note, you can probably get a "universal" shaft and make it work with minor modifications, if any.

When I converted my 250 hiboy to auto trans, I used a 2wd auto column with the 4wd shaft inside. Works great. Looks stock.
